C’mon C’mon (2021)

Mike Mills is a unique author, sensitive as few in describing human relationships, mostly family. C’mon C’mon, which has gone almost unnoticed, has a man (Joaquin Phoenix) as its protagonist. Sometime after his mother’s death decides to call his sister, discovering that her husband is ill and that she needs help. So he decides to join her in Los Angeles. Where he spends some time with Jesse. her nine-year-old nephew, with whom he establishes a special relationship. The film is in black and white and works very well. with the plus of a musical presence that is never banal. A journey through youth and parenthood, which leads to many questions. 

Dry (2022)

A contemporary choral comedy, Siccità is set in Rome where it hasn’t rained for a long time. Everything, plants and men, have dried up. although they try to spend their lives accepting this new state of things. White Noise (2022)

It is now in theaters and you will find it streaming on Netflix from December 30 White Noise (in original  White Noise ), the latest work by Noah Baumbach ( Marriage Story, Frances Ha ). The film starring Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig is based on the novel of the same name by Don DeLillo. In Blacksmith, a small town in the Midwest, lives the large Gladney family. His father, Jack, is a college professor and founder of a Hitler Studies department. His family routine runs smoothly, between comparisons with his children and constant visits to the supermarket.

A constant background noise appears to permeate everything. never leaving the protagonist or those around them. When a huge chemical cloud, caused by a train derailment, bursts into his life and that of the other inhabitants. His blindest fears related to death seem to find fulfillment.  Consumption, knowledge, and catastrophe are themes that Baumbach tackles with his unfailing creative flair, giving us another unmissable film.
