At first, the title of this film served only to support the jokes of Brendan Fraser’s physical change and weight gain. Now it seems his direct passport to the Oscar. Fraser plays a 200-plus-pound inmate in this Darren Aronofsky film where we’ll also see Sadie Sink outside of Stranger Things.
Tár (2022)
Beyond the interest that always generates seeing Cate Blanchett in any role (or anything, like that in general). The truth is that it has been the multiple awards for her performance that have catapulted this drama about an orchestra conductor. She was the winner of the Best Actress Award in Venice. Smells like she will take the 2023 Oscar from Ana de Armas.
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)
The director of Three Billboards on the Outskirts has returned with a drama (with a lot of black humor). The sea of Irish led by Colin Farrell and Brendan Glesson that already won the Best Actor and Best Screenplay Awards at the Venice Festival. The end of a friendship is the premise that, is supported by a great script and four superb performances. And sustains this well-rounded film.
Knock at the Cabin (2023)
Although we often say that M. Night Shyamalan gives us one of lime and another of sand. We always have to go and discover if this time it’s the good one again. The Indian director is always interesting and original and here he promises us a thriller with an incomprehensible premise (for now) that involves an isolated cabin, strange kidnappers, and the mission to prevent an apocalypse. Also, Dave Bautista is going nerdy.
